J. Satisha has ten years of experience in propagation of fruit crops, especially grapes and in stress (water stress)  physiology of grapes. He has worked on “Standardization of vegetative propagation in tamarind (Tamarindus indica L)” during his Masters Programme and “Genetic variability in water use efficiency of grape varieties, rootstocks and their stionic combinations” during his Ph.D Programme. At NRC for Grapes he is working in following areas:

  1. Evaluation of grape rootstocks for salinity and drought tolerance
  2. Collection, evaluation, Characterization and Cataloguing of Grape Germplasm
  3. Use of Growth Regulators to Increase the Productivity and Export Quality of Grapes from Grafted Vines
  4. Propagation of grape rootstocks

Seminar / conference 

  1. Attended group discussion on Augmentation and evaluation of grape Germplasm at NBPGR (RS) Akola from 11th and 12th August 1999.
  2. National Seminar on Sugarcane Biotechnology Held at Vasantdada Sugar Institute, Pune from 21st and 22nd January, 2000.
  3. Participated in Group meeting of grape researchers in All India Co-ordinated Research Project on Sub-Tropical Fruits held at NRC for Grapes, Pune from 23-24th February 2001.
  4. Participated in training programme for IPR-WTO issues at CIFE, Bombay from 18-20th Sep. 2001.
  5. Attended Annual Grape Seminars of Maharashtra Rajya Draksh Bagayatdhar Sangh, Pune in 1999, 2000, 2001.
  6. Attended National grape Seminar organized by Karnataka Grape Grower’s Association held at Bijapur on14th-15th Aug. 2004.
  7. Participated in Indian Horticulture Congress held at IARI, Pusa New Delhi from 6th to 9th Nov. 2004.
  8. Participated in Second group meeting of grape researchers in All India Co-ordinated Research Project on Sub-Tropical Fruits held at NRC for Grapes, Pune from 22-23rd February 2005.

Awards and Scholarships

1.      Recipient of ICAR, JRF for 1992-93 and 1993-94 during M.Sc. (Agri.).

2.      Recipient of UAS, Gold medal for highest OGPA of 9.51 out of 10.00 during M.Sc. (Agri.).

3.      Recipient of three gold medals from UAS Bangalore, Indo American Hybrid Seeds and Agro Evo India Limited for highest OGPA of 9.64 out of 10.00 during Ph.D during 2004.

Trainings

He has acquired training on

1.      64th Foundation Course for ARS Scientists at NAARM, Hyderabad.

2.      Attended training program on “Development of high end resource material (Multi media) for effective teaching and learning” at NAARM, Hyderabad.

He has given trainings on

1.      Means to improve vine productivity

2.      Use of rootstocks for problematic soil and water

3.      Training and pruning of grapes for off-season crop

4.      Bud analysis for identifying position of fruitful buds

5.      Establishment of vineyards on rootstocks
